How To Save Money on Makeup

Posted by On April - 1 - 2009

makeupRight now is not the best financial time for anyone. So if you need to save money but still look fabulous here are a few tips on how to accomplish that.

Figure out what is most important in your makeup. Think about your best features. If it is your eyes, make sure that you use the best products out there to make them pop ( I do not mean that literally).
Best products do not have to be most expensive ones, but just ones that look best on you.

Think about all the products you have and stick with the ones that work best. Also see if you can buy the product in bulk to save money. This goes for things like makeup pads and removers, brush sets and
lotions.

Less is more. Do not buy things that you will never use just because they are on sale. Remember that it is not a deal if you don’t use it. The best way to do this is to have a list of things you need before you go shopping.

Here is a list of products that you can buy from a cheaper brand:

1. Mascara

Did you know that Calvin Klein used to apply mascara on the models using a toothbrush?
They said that they couldn’t find one that had a good applicator. Also most of mascaras seem to be very similar. So buy a cheap brand and save some money!

2. Makeup brushes

If you look on YouTube you can see how obsessed people are about their makeup brush. Well I can tell you that if you know how to put on makeup properly you do not need a fancy brush. And if you don’t know how to put it on then no brush will save your look.

All you need is a small brush, a medium brush and a large brush.
That’s all!

And to save even more money go to an art store instead of a makeup store. Art store will have much bigger selection as well as higher quality brushes. Most makeup artists shop at art stores for their
brushes so if they are saving money why shouldn’t you?

3. Throw away applicators and makeup pads.

Anything that is just for one time use would fit into this category. For these items go to your local dollar store and buy it there. You will not see a difference. Trust.

So anyways I hope these tips will help you save some cash, and if you have any additional tips, please leave a comment.

How To Choose An Eye Shadow Primer

Posted by On March - 1 - 2009

eyesHave you ever noticed that your eye shadow starts out bright when you first put it on, and by the end of the day you can barely tell it’s still there? Also the color of the eye shadow is not as bright as it appears in the palate. When it comes to different eye shadow primers there are quite a few different choices. In this article we will go over the best eye shadow primers that are available today.
The first one is Urban Decay Primer Potion. This primer has been around for awhile now and is known for its glue like sticky power. The only problem is that the design of the container is rather poor which results in a lot of product being wasted. Some users have actually cut of the container in half and found enough product to last them a few months. You can look in our videos section to see exactly what we’re talking about. Overall it does seem like a good product however it might be a little expensive (around 20 dollars). If you do decide to go with this primer make sure you get all the product out before throwing out the container. Urban Decay Primer Potion seems to be very popular with many makeup artists. For tutorials on how to apply Urban Decay Primer Potion check out YouTube.
The second is the MAC primer. MAC primer seems to be good and there are not many complains about it. The only thing to say about it is that MAC tends to be extremely overpriced. There is really no reason for it to be so expensive. Same goes for most MAC products. It is hyped up as the makeup that makeup artists use and because of that must be expensive. If you look online and there are many makeup lines that are just as good if not better. Getting back to the primer, it does seem to go on fairly smooth and has good staying power. During our trial we did not find that it was better than urban decay.
The third one is Too Faced Shadow Insurance. This one is also very similar in price and quality however it is better than Urban Decay because it has a squeezable container with very little product wasted. When it comes to quality it is just as good as Urban Decay and just as good as MAC.
If you want to keep your eyes looking like you just put your makeup on you should try using an eye shadow primer. All of the above mentioned choices are good so the decision is really up to you.

The Best Foundation For Acne Prone Skin

Posted by On October - 23 - 2008

shu-foundationVICHY NORMA TEINT” is THE BEST foundation for acne skin.

Honestly, I tried so many different foundations for acne prone skin, and yet they still caused more acne.
This is true for all the typical brands such as cover girl, revlon and so on.  Anyways this new foundation is awsome. It actually helps your skin look better when you use it.  I tried it for a week and my skin actually improved.  I just want to let you guys know that I don’t get paid for reviews so this is not some marketing thing. I am just happy to share the info because this foundation is actually good.  The only thing is that it costs $25 which is quite a bit more then the regular brands, but if you want nice skin to me it’s worth the price. Also the texture of it is very good, and you can’t really tell that you are wearing makeup.  It’s not cakey looking.  I am giving it a 10 out of 10 because it is that good.
